I’m really interested in the 5514 COMEX (Asian Movement) but have neither to skills or the tools to age the hands and drill the lungs.safe to say the only thing I could manage myself would be adding scratches as I am a completely noob to modding.
My favorite Rolex submariner, the illusive and legendary Comex 5514 from JKF. Many thanks to Marvellous Replica from RWI forum for the flawless transaction. I got the JKF 5513 with 2813 movement from Marvelous Replicas for really cheap and absolutely loved it. I replaced the crystal with the Clark's T19 and aged the dial but messed it up. I ended up getting a whole new Viet dial and hands with custom matching lume, a gen NOS ETA 2840, and the ETA movement retaining ring for the case. Ordered this JKF Rolex 5513 on Jan 4th from Marvelous Reps which is a TD on RWI that specializes in vintage reps. It cost 0 shipped which is amazing for what you are getting. I had the option of a 2836 clone or the DG2813. I went with the 2813 as it is closer to gen in BPH and to save 0.
Does anyone know if JKF makes a 5513/5512? I currently have a JKF 1680, which runs AMAZING and has superb SEL. For this reason I am pretty biased towards the 5512/5513 being from same factory. Or is there a better maker out there for these models? Wall of Images. This was originally a JKF Submariner, so the lugs were slightly wider and the crown guards were much chunkier than gen. My goal is to create a heavily used, but not abused 5513, circa late 1960s. The watch would have been polished a few times in its life, but never religiously.
The JKF/Cartel vintage ones are excellent and great value for money. My suggestion is buy the accessories with it if you can namely a Rivet bracelet, that is just my bias as I love them.
